Governance Compass
Know what is happening in your school without being there, and get ready for school accreditation. A complete governance system built on ISO 37000 principles: an online platform and a ready-to-use document pack.
If you were away from your school for a month, who would know what was decided and why?
See how the Governance Compass turns school management from trust in individuals into a system that proves itself.
Three problems every school owner knows
Everything lives in one person's head
Decisions, information and follow-up sit with one person, while the owner is legally responsible for everything with no written guide.
Partner disputes and succession
Disagreements over who decides, and no written arrangement for what happens on a death, a partner's exit, or a transfer of ownership.
The new public education system
School accreditation is now mandatory for private schools, and non-compliance can reach the licence itself.
What the owner sees on a single screen
- Governance readiness across the eleven principles
- Open and overdue decisions, and who owns each one
- Board meetings, attendance rate and approved minutes
- On-time compliance and open high-level risks
- Parent and teacher satisfaction, and complaints with their resolution times
It is also your evidence of management quality for the funder or investor at financing or acquisition.
A platform and a document pack that work together
Every document has one code on paper and in the platform, and the approved template creates its own records automatically, so nothing is written twice.
Authority matrix and owners' charter
Who decides what, and within what financial limit, among the owners, the board and the school leader. Plus a charter that settles in advance what happens in a dispute, a death or a partner's exit, while guaranteeing the academic year is completed.
Decisions through to execution
Every approved set of minutes becomes decisions in a follow-up register, so no decision gets lost between two meetings.
- OwnerEach decision has a responsible person
- DeadlineA published implementation date
- AlertSent before it becomes overdue
- ImpactA decision is closed with evidence
Encrypted vaults
Disclosures, evaluations, reports and child protection records are encrypted. Only their owners can open them, with a private password.
Readiness and maturity assessment
18 controls for a small school and 44 for groups, then maturity measurement under ISO 37004 for the principles that are ready.
Ready-made document pack
Charters, policies, procedures and templates that the school fills in rather than writing from scratch, with electronic approval and signature.
Four steps from assessment to certificate
Readiness assessment
The school rates the state of its controls in short working sessions, and sees its gaps on the compass.
Building the system
We set up the platform and documents to fit the ownership pattern: a single owner, a family and partners, or a group.
Operation and follow-up
Meetings, decisions, disclosures and compliance are run from the platform, with follow-up and training.
Independent assessment and certificate
Maturity is measured by an independent assessor, followed by Global Board's certificate of compliance.
Certificate of compliance with ISO 37000 principles from Global Board International
Awarded to the school after an independent assessment of its governance and a measurement of its maturity, to present to owners, families and funders as documented evidence of the quality of its management.
An independent certificate issued by Global Board. ISO 37000 is a guidance standard, and ISO does not issue certificates against it.
Designed for schools run by owners
Family and partner schools
Settle decisions and succession before they become a dispute.
School groups
One view of several schools from a single dashboard.
Schools heading for accreditation
Evidence organised by document codes before the visit.
Schools seeking funding or an investor
A documented governance record that raises confidence in their management.
Before you start
Is this an official ISO certificate?
No. ISO 37000 is a guidance standard, and the ISO organisation does not issue certificates against it. The certificate is an independent one issued by Global Board after assessment, showing that the school's governance is aligned with the standard's principles. The system also prepares the ground for ISO 21001 certification for those who want it.
Is my school's data safe?
Sensitive files, such as disclosures and child protection records, are encrypted on the user's device before they are saved. Only their owners can read them, using a password that is not stored anywhere.
Does a small school need all of this?
No. A small school gets a core edition of 18 controls, designed to be completed in two working sessions, and moves to the full edition when it is ready.
